In this six-session course, Stern Center Director Earle Havens will explore the history, art, and architecture of the Vatican in Rome beginning with its formation in classical antiquity and the Middle Ages. Focused discussions will highlight the history of St. Peter's basilica, the Belvedere Courtyard and Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and Apostolic Palace, and the Vatican Library. The course will draw heavily from the Sheridan Libraries' rare book and manuscript collections.
Presented online via Zoom by the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association's Odyssey lifelong learning program.
