Inheritance Baltimore and the Struggle for Just Futures: Cultural Work as Reparations

This two-and-a-half-day conference will showcase the results of Inheritance Baltimore, a project that aims to turn arts and humanities education into reparative action. The conference will highlight how we have brought nontraditional knowledge, archives, and arts into our agenda for research in Africana Studies.

Inheritance Baltimore is a reparations program for Humanities education and Arts-based public engagement in Black Baltimore. It is composed of three Johns Hopkins units:

  • Billie Holiday Center for Liberations Arts
  • Chloe Center for the Critical Study of Racism, Immigration, and Colonialism
  • Sheridan Libraries Special Collections
