Matteo Venier, a researcher in Italian literature at the University of Udine in Italy, will give a talk titled "Another Side of Italian Humanistic Literature: The 1493 Manuscript Nova de miraculis disputatio of Petrus Haedus" for the Virginia Fox Stern Center for the Study of the Book in the Renaissance.
This event is co-sponsored by the Singleton Center for the Study of Premodern Europe and the Italian section of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences.
Matteo Venier is a researcher in Italian literature at the University of Udine in Italy. His research interests include the culture and literature of the Renaissance, with particular attention to the Veneto and Friuli regions. Venier holds doctoral degrees from the University of Florence and the University of Udine.
The Virginia Fox Stern Center for the History of the Book in the Renaissance was established with a permanent endowment in 2017 to support lectures, fellowships, master classes, symposia, and publications related to the Sheridan Libraries' premodern and early modern rare book and manuscript collections. The center’s focus encompasses the historical reception of classical and medieval thought and the culture and influence of the Renaissance throughout the early modern period.
